Running with less memory may cause disk swapping, which has a severe effect on performance. More RAM is recommended for applets running within a browser using the Java Plug-in.
Note: The minimum physical RAM is required to run graphically based applications. The following tables list the minimum memory requirements for Windows 64-bit operating systems:
The disk space requirements for source code and the public JRE are the same as those for Windows 32-bit operating systems, except for the JavaFX SDK (68 MB) and the JavaFX runtime (32 MB). Apache Tomcat 7.0.x 64-bit (where x 20) Apache Tomcat 8.0.x 64-bit Apache Tomcat 8.5.x 64-bit Apache Tomcat 9.0.x 64-bit (cannot be used with the CAST-RESTAPI-integrated.war delivered in AIP Console 1.15) Host Operating System: The CAST RESTAPI can be hosted on both Windows and Linux host Operating Systems.
We need the ‘process/command’ version of Apache Tomcat.
The following table lists the minimum memory requirements for Windows 32-bit operating systems. Do not install the ‘32-bit/64-bit Windows Service Installer’, as this is the TomCat Windows Service version, and you won’t be able to deploy a Windows/NT Service in Windows Azure PaaS. See the table, "Disk Space Requirements for JRE" Java Runtime Environment, including JavaFX Runtime The table that follow show the various disk space requirements for the JRE and JDK: Disk Space Requirements for JRE JRE In addition to the disk space required for the installed images, there must be sufficient disk space for Java Update. Note that only advanced users should modify the settings for temporary files. In the Temporary Internet Files panel, click Settings. To determine the location of this directory, go to the Java Control Panel (from the Windows Control Panel).
However, it is possible to install the installed image on any drive. It appears these two downloads are somewhat mutually exclusive in the sense that if I download and install the 32-bit/64-bit Windows Service Installer version and the 64-bit Windows zip file the startup.bat file in the 64-bit Windows zip file version will not run or interact with the 32-bit/64-bit Windows Service Installer tomcat instance.
The directory Program Files\Common Files\Java\Java Update, or Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Java\Java Update on 64-bit operating systems, contains Java Update, which enables you to keep your computer up-to-date automatically with the latest JRE releases.
